Howard Meng
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Meng is a staff anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is the Medical Director of the Acute Pain Service and the Medical Director for the Integrated Pain Program at the Holland Centre Working Conditions Program. He practices chronic pain at Women’s College Hospital as part of the Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute. His clinical and research interests include (1) trauma pain – evaluation of acute musculoskeletal pain management with a focus on regional anesthesia and interventional pain techniques; (2) post-traumatic headaches – evaluation of acute post-traumatic headaches and prevention of persistent traumatic headaches; (3) peripheral nerve pain – evaluation of novel techniques for pain management including chemical neurolytics, pulsed/thermal radiofrequency ablation, cryoneurolysis, and neuromoduation.
Dr. Meng completed his medical training, including Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine residencies at the University of Toronto. His clinical and research interests lie in acute and persistent pain following trauma. He is the Trauma Pain Clinic lead at the Trauma Transitions Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. His chronic pain practice takes place at Women's College Hospital.
