Evelyn Bateman Recipe Chair in Ambulatory Anesthesia and Women’s Health at Women’s College Hospital
Women’s College Hospital, and the Department of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto are seeking applicants for appointment to the Evelyn Bateman Recipe Chair in Ambulatory Anesthesia and Women’s Health at Women’s College Hospital.
The Chair is expected to advance excellence in research to optimize care for people undergoing ambulatory anesthesia. The successful candidate will be an internationally renowned clinician researcher conducting high quality innovative research in anesthesia, pain medicine or related disciplines. The mandate of this chair is to lead a world-class program of research and academic excellence that advances ambulatory anesthesia at Women’s College Hospital and the University of Toronto Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. The incumbent will foster and support research, education/training and scientific progress following high ethical and professional standards in ambulatory anesthesia at Women’s, an institution that prioritizes equity deserving communities. Candidates will have a reputation of clinical expertise in anesthesia and a track record of peer-reviewed funding and international scientific impact.
The Chair holder must hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto, be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or equivalent, be eligible to hold a medical license in Ontario and to be appointed a staff anesthesiologist at Women’s College Hospital. The successful applicant must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant (near promotion), Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The Chair’s position is for a 5-year term, with possibility of renewal for a second 5-year term following a structured review process.
Salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate, with a salary range of $260,000 - $500,000 per annum, which will be a combination of fee-for-service clinical care, as well as additional funding from the Evelyn Bateman Recipe Chair in Ambulatory Anesthesia and Women’s Health. The locations of work will be Women’s College Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital.

HRH's Department of Anesthesia is a diverse and vibrant group of over 40 anesthesiologists. It prides itself on fostering a supportive and collegial environment. Surgical service at HRH include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, oral maxillofacial, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pediatric, plastic surgery, urology, vascular surgery. HRH operates 19 operating rooms, 5 endoscopy rooms, a labour and delivery unit with 3 operating rooms as well as a 4-bay anesthesia block room. GoodHope Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Chair in Translational Medicine
The University Health Network, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management and the University of Toronto, Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine are seeking a candidate for the inaugural GoodHope Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Chair in Translational Medicine at the University Health Network. The Chair’s position is for a first 5-year term, with the possibility of renewal for a second 5-year term. The anticipated start date will be July 1, 2023, or mutually agreed upon.
We seek applications from candidates who are established clinician-investigators/scientists and a leader in Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome research. Evidence of a high-impact research program supported by national and international peer-reviewed funding is required. The successful candidate is expected to have a clear, achievable vision to enable and accelerate the development of an integrated clinical and research translational program over the next decade. The successful candidate will receive protected time for research and scholarly activities.
The successful candidate must be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and must have an established innovative, independent, externally funded, internationally recognized research program.
We are seeking candidates with excellent clinical skills and demonstrated commitment to teaching students, residents, and fellows. Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the Province of Ontario. Nunavut Anesthesia Locum Opportunities:
Qikiqtani General Hospital is a small hospital (the only one in Nunavut) and has 1-2 ORs running at a time, serving a population of about 20,000 the majority of whom live in fly-in communities throughout eastern Nunavut. The hospital is largely run by General Practitioners, and there is also general surgery and pediatrics on the ground full time.
Locums are desperately needed for the following dates:
June 6-10
- OR 1 - general surgery (adult cases, includes lots of scopes)
- OR 2 - peds dental (peds cases, ages 2-12)
June 13-17
- OR 1 -ENT (mix of adult and peds)
- OR 2 - peds dental (peds cases, ages 2-12)

Call coverage would include emergency cases for adults, peds, and obstetrics (peds emergency cases are fairly rare, and there are also pediatricians on-site who take the lead for acutely ill children and infants).
Remuneration is based on a daily rate:
- 24h call - $2000 for 24h call plus callbacks $175/hr after 5pm
- OR only (not on call) - $1800
Travel and accommodation are provided and arranged for you. There is no overhead and you can bill your corp.
