Teaching Effectiveness Scores and LACT Forms

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine captures and maintains TES data using three systems:

  • Postgraduate Web Registration (POWER): For resident teaching
  • Medical Student Information System (MedSIS): For MD program teaching
  • Elentra: Produces the Learner Assessment of Clinical Teachers (LACT) form, capturing assessments from all levels of learners

The Transition to LACT Forms

As of July 1, 2021, our department has effectively transitioned to the LACT form. The strength of the LACT form system is that it supports the collection and collation of feedback across all stages of learning and will allow a more comprehensive report. All TES reports released from the department will now be generated through the LACT form.

Appeals

The Department has established a formal appeals review committee to address any concerns teachers may have about their LACT forms. The Director of Evaluation Appeals and their committee oversees this process.

Important Information

  • The committee's goal is to review appeals objectively and either deny or approve the removal of the evaluation(s) in question.
  • Teachers will be notified of the outcome of the investigation and appeals review.
  • Faculty should never contact learners directly regarding their evaluations. Appeals must be handled exclusively through the appeals committee.
  • The committee's findings are final.
