Eric Greenwood
MD
Dr. Greenwood has a special interest in improving the anesthetic care of children here in Ontario and beyond. Through a combination of clinical work and teaching, he maintains his appointments at both the Hospital for Sick Children and Brampton Civic Hospital where he is actively engaged in the function of both departments. Dr. Greenwood’s unique arrangement takes him as an active tertiary pediatric anesthesiologist to a community hospital for two days per week. At the Brampton Civic Hospital, he serves as an advocate for the best care for children coming for surgery where he is involved with guideline and policy development for pediatric patients. He also serves as a resource for colleagues and continues to provide interdepartmental continuing education on a formal as well as ad-hoc basis. At the Hospital for Sick Children, he is a leader and resource in pediatric regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided procedures, such as venous and arterial access, and management of difficult airways. He is active with administrative responsibilities and is responsible for overseeing the equipment and capital projects for the department.
Dr. Greenwood is also actively involved in the education of both residents and fellows in the operating room and as part of their regular classroom curriculum. His involvement with continuing education (CE) programs extends to many levels. He continues to provide ongoing education to colleagues at Brampton Civic Hospital and he also serves on the CE committee for the Toronto Interactive Anesthesia Meeting (a PBLD and workshop based meeting with a target audience of community anesthesiologists). Dr. Greenwood has given many presentations on topics ranging from pediatric difficult airway worship to topics on anesthesia for adenotonsillectomy, pediatric sedation and regional anesthesia in children.
