Dr. Dylan Bould is an anesthesiologist at SickKids, Toronto and a professor of anesthesiology at the University of Toronto. He went to Medical School in Leeds, UK (1997), has a Master of Education from the University of Toronto (2009) and has sub-specialty fellowship training in simulation/education, pediatric anesthesia and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. His research focuses on global access to anesthesia and surgical care, particularly relating to human resources for health for anesthesia providers. He leads a collaborative program of research working with investigators in East and Southern Africa that focuses on issues around anesthesia training, partnerships, retention of the workforce and burnout.

He is a past chair of the Canadian Anesthesiologist’s Society International Education Foundation (CASIEF) and Global Anaesthesia Development Partnerships (GADP). Through these organizations he has extensive experience includes leading educational partnerships to support anesthesia capacity building in Zambia, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Guyana. He is a North America Regional Representative on the WFSA Council, also serving as the inaugural Council Chair and has previously completed terms on the WFSA Education committee and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. He has received multiple awards in global health, including the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine Global Health Leadership Award in 2023 and the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society Humanitarian Award in 2021.
