Dr. Nates graduated from the University of Cape Town with an MBChB and went on to complete his fellowship in Anesthesia. He completed a critical care fellowship before moving to Winnipeg to do a cardiac anesthesia fellowship. On transferring to Toronto, he took up practice at the Southlake Hospital in Newmarket where he was the Education Lead and then the Director of the Cardiac Anesthesiology Group of the Surgical and Cardiac ICU. Dr. Nates now practices at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. His interests include cardiac anesthesia and TEE.
