Dr Giron Arango is a staff anesthesiologist at Toronto Western Hospital / Women’s College Hospital and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Originally from Colombia, she completed her medical degree and anesthesia residency at Universidad CES in Medellín, followed by fellowships in regional anesthesia and acute pain management, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and advanced clinical practice at the University of Toronto.
She is currently the Co-Director of the Point of Care Ultrasound Fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital. Her academic and clinical work focuses on regional anesthesia and perioperative ultrasound. She has published on nerve-sparing techniques for hip and knee surgery—including the PENG block, iPACK block, and adductor canal block—and is currently leading research at Women’s College Hospital aimed at improving perioperative care for patients undergoing Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty through the use of regional anesthesia techniques. Through this work, Dr. Girón Arango aims to advance perioperative safety, individualized pain control, and the integration of ultrasound into routine anesthetic practice.
