Imrat Sohanpal

Dr. Sohanpal is specialist in Anesthesiology by virtue of a fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Royal College of Anesthetists (UK). He obtained his Fellowship in Pain Medicine from the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anesthetists (UK) in 2011. Dr. Sohanpal became Medical Director of Allevio Pain Management in November 2017 and has privileges at Scarborough Health Network in Anesthesia.
His goal is to continue to provide high standard of care to the Ontario pain community using evidence-based medicine and continue to contribute to research and education in pain medicine.
Dr. Sohanpal has been instrumental in taking the initiative and lead in facilitating an interventional pain rotation at Allevio Pain Management, a community pain clinic where he is the Medical Director. A structured rotation is devised prior to the residents attending, evaluating educational needs at the start of the rotation. Dr. Sohanpal prioritizing himself for most of the procedural teaching as well other doctors in the clinic when not available.
Dr. Sohanpal was trained in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at the University College London Hospital, where he later worked as Consultant before moving to Toronto in 2014. While working at the teaching Hospital he regularly provided group exam teaching on basic sciences, acute and chronic pain, regional and pediatric anesthesia. He also spent 1 year at the University of Michigan Hospital at C. S Mott Children’s Hospital as an Attendee for a one-year rotation specializing in pediatric Neuroanesthesia, pediatric acute pain and regional anesthesia. Dr. Sohanpal has continued his interest in education and teaching by attending local and international anesthesia and pain conferences. He has presented his own research in regenerative therapy at international pain conferences and taught on local pain workshops.
