Dr. Charles Crompton passed away on April 20, 2016 at home in the company of his family at age 92. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine and one of the first graduates of the newly established Department of Anaesthesia Resident Training Program to be recruited to the Department of Anaesthesia at Toronto Western Hospital in 1955. Dr. Crompton was a superbly skilled clinician but more than that he was the most gentlemanly of clinicians. Those qualities consistently earned him the trust and affection of his patients and the admiration and appreciation of all his Operating Room colleagues. Dr. Crompton retired in 1988. He, and his wife Norine, are gratefully remembered for modeling high standards, unfailing courtesy and the values of family.
