Dr. McDonald obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Science from the Ottawa Heart Institute, University of Ottawa. She completed her anesthesia training (FRCPC) at McGill University. She then completed a perioperative echocardiography fellowship at the University of Ottawa and combined cardiac and thoracic anesthesia fellowships at Toronto General Hospital. Her clinical and academic areas of interest are in cardiac, thoracic and transplant anesthesiology as well as transesophageal echocardiography and point of care ultrasound. She is actively involved in resident and fellow education.
