Dr. Kan Ma completed his anesthesia residency at McMaster University in 2017, followed by fellowships in Trauma–Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care at St. Michael’s Hospital in 2018 and Neurosurgical Anesthesiology at Northwestern University in 2019. He currently serves as Associate Fellowship Director and Clinical Lead in Neuroanesthesia at St. Michael’s Hospital. His teaching has been recognized with the PARO Teaching Award (2016), an MD Undergraduate Teaching Award (2025), and multiple University of Toronto Resident Teaching Awards (2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025). He has been actively involved in the development of clinical practice guidelines for the American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring (ASNM) and the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC). He currently serves as Associate Editor for Neurosurgical Anesthesiology section at the Journal of Clinical Anesthesia.
