Dr. Asad Siddiqui is a pediatric anesthesiologist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and an Assistant Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) and MD at McMaster University, then began anesthesiology residency training in the University of Toronto’s Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine in 2013. During residency, he earned a Master of Education specializing in high-fidelity simulation and trainee assessment.

He completed a Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at SickKids in 2018 and has served as a Consultant Pediatric Anesthesiologist since 2019. Dr. Siddiqui is the Clinical Director of Liver Transplant Anesthesia at SickKids and a clinician-investigator focused on perioperative outcomes in pediatric liver transplantation, with particular interest in predicting postoperative trajectories using physiologic modelling and data science-driven approaches.

Dr. Siddiqui is a Principal Investigator and medical lead with LaussenLabs, SickKids’ perioperative physiologic data capture research group, where he has led the integration of high-frequency physiologic waveform capture from the operating room. His research program applies artificial intelligence and machine learning to physiologic data to improve prediction and early detection of perioperative risk. His current aims are to: (1) develop surgery-specific, dynamic decision-support tools; (2) derive clinically meaningful secondary features from physiologic waveforms to infer underlying pathophysiologic states in children; and (3) forecast perioperative hemodynamic deterioration to enable earlier, more targeted interventions.
