Annette graduated from medical school at McGill University and completed her anesthesia residency at the University of Toronto. Following a cardiac anesthesia fellowship at TGH she became an attending staff anesthesiologist at TGH in 1994. She is currently Director of Perioperative Echocardiography and practices anesthesia in the OR and is an attending staff in the cardiovascular intensive care unit. She has authored and edited books on echocardiography.
