Alexander White

Alex earned his medical degree and completed his anesthesia training at the University of Toronto, followed by a two-year fellowship in critical care medicine. During his training, he had clinical placements at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, and the Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Alex pursued further clinical training in cardiac anesthesia and liver transplant anesthesia at Toronto General Hospital. He then completed a fellowship at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, UK, focusing on anesthesia, critical care, and extracorporeal life support. Alex came on staff at TGH in October 2020. He went on sabbatical and completed a year of cardiothoracic and transplant anesthesia training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, returning back to Toronto General in May 2023. Alex is a diplomate of the National Board of Echocardiography in both Transesophageal Echocardiography and Critical Care Echocardiography, and he holds specialist registration in both Canada and Australia.
