The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine is pleased to announce that Drs. Andrew Tse and Jesse Goldmacher have been appointed to the Anesthesiology Examination Board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) for a two-year term.

In these roles, they will contribute to the national certification process by developing examination content—including multiple-choice and oral exam questions—participating in structured oral examinations and upholding the standards of the RCPSC examiner code of conduct.

Dr. Andrew Tse is a staff anesthesiologist at St. Joseph’s Health Centre with extensive leadership experience in medical education. He has served as Resident Site Coordinator for five years, contributed to the Anesthesia Residency Competence Committee and Departmental Hiring Committee, and founded Peer-Led Rounds. He has also served as Acting Chief of the Department of Anesthesia at St Joseph’s Health Centre and has been recognized for his excellence as a clinician and educator of anesthesia residents with the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine’s Gerald Edelist and Clinical Excellence Awards Award. Dr. Tse regularly contributes questions to departmental and Royal College MCQ exams, provides oral exam preparation for PGY-5 residents, and emphasizes precision, clarity, and clinical reasoning in teaching, making him well-positioned to contribute to the national examination process.

Dr. Jesse Goldmacher is a staff anesthesiologist at Toronto Western Hospital and an active education leader at the University of Toronto. Now entering his second year as Resident Site Coordinator at Toronto Western Hospital, he oversees resident rotations, curriculum delivery, and assessment. He is also the Founder and Director of the hospital’s Simulation Centre, where he leads high-fidelity simulation training. Dr. Goldmacher has led senior revision tutorials for PGY-5 residents, Royal College-level oral exam preparation sessions, as well as preparatory sessions for the International Medical Graduate oral exam program at the University. He has contributed exam content at both the departmental and RCPSC levels and has published research on assessment in anesthesiology.

Following their appointment, Dr. Beverley Orser, department chair, offered her congratulations:

"Drs. Tse and Goldmacher bring outstanding leadership, expertise, and energy to this appointment. Their deep commitment to teaching and evaluation will help uphold the high standards of anesthesia education and certification across Canada."

The department also thanks Drs. Kirkham and Wassermann for their dedicated service on the Examination Board. Their contributions over the past two terms have been invaluable in maintaining excellence in national anesthesiology examinations.

Congratulations to Drs. Tse and Goldmacher on this appointment. We look forward to their contributions to the RCPSC Anesthesiology Examination Board.
