Richard Brull
MD, FRCPC
Dr. Richard (Ricky) Brull graduated from the University of Calgary medical school in 1999, completed his anesthesia residency at the University of Toronto in 2004, and subsequently undertook fellowship training in regional anesthesia at The Hospital For Special Surgery in New York City. He returned to Toronto Western Hospital as a staff anesthesiologist in 2005 with strong clinical and academic interests in regional anesthesia, ultrasound guidance, and nerve injury, specifically, understanding and evaluating the incidence, mechanisms, detection, and possibly, prevention of neurological complications following regional anesthesia. He has authored well over 100 peer-reviewed publications, multiple chapters in leading textbooks including Miller’s Anesthesia, and recently completed his term as the Executive Section Editor for the Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain section of Anesthesia & Analgesia. He served as the Site Chief for the Department of Anesthesia at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto from 2012 to 2017, and was subsequently appointed the inaugural Evelyn Bateman Cara Operations Chair in Ambulatory Anesthesia and Women’s Health at Women’s College Hospital. Dr. Brull has held the rank of Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Toronto since 2014.
