Ivor Fleming
Born and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Fleming completed an honours bachelor’s degree in inorganic chemistry prior to entering UBC Medicine. After graduating with his MD in 1985, he interned at Royal Victoria Hospital and then completed CCFP at McGill at the Montreal General Hospital. He returned to British Columbia to work at Waglisla as director of the Bella Bella Medical Clinic for three years. He began his residency in anesthesia at University of Toronto and completed his FRCPC training in 1995. Dr. Fleming worked as a clinical fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital and was appointed lecturer University of Toronto in 1996. He acted as resident supervisor at the Mount Sinai for four years. Dr. Fleming was promoted to assistant professor anesthesia in 2001 and worked as director of clinical anesthesia at Mount Sinai from 2002 until 2010. His interests include acute pain management, blood conservation, transfusion medicine, anesthesia for head and neck surgery, post-operative pulmonary complications, and anesthesia for laser surgery.
