The Hospital for Sick Children has officially dethroned Mount Sinai Hospital as the reigning champions of the annual Toronto Anesthesia Sports Day. The coveted Golden Laryngoscope was awarded to the team following a fun-filled event that brought together anesthesia professionals for friendly competition and a worthy cause.

The September 28th event featured a variety of athletic challenges including dodgeball, tug-of-war, soccer, flag football, and limbo. Beyond the friendly competition, the day serves as a fundraiser for the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society International Education Foundation (CASIEF). This global health charity is dedicated to improving access to safe anesthesia and perioperative care worldwide through education, knowledge translation, and advocacy.

Dr. Steven Alchi, event organizer, expressed gratitude for the strong support from the anesthesia community. "It was great to see everyone come together and enjoy the day," he said.

“The feedback has been extremely positive so far—particularly from the kids who were the stars of the show,” added Dr. Rahul Mor.

Chief residents, Drs. Jessica Nguyen and Sean Leung added, “this year’s Sports Day was an incredible experience. It’s always fun to win, but the real victory was the camaraderie and the chance to support a great cause like CASIEF."
