As a director of the Blood Conservation Program, Dr. Prabhu introduced topical tranexamic acid and reduced transfusion rate for knee and hip replacements from 30% to 2% and 4% respectively. 

As the deputy site chief, he introduced multiple quality improvement perioperative projects including improvement of operating room timeliness from 60% to 90%, creating novel staffing assignments in the block room to enhance patient safety

Dr. Prabhu also implemented a new creative schedule for clinical fellows to optimize their academic productivity in addition to introducing new policies for acute pain service, ebola precautions, antibiotic prophylaxis for major surgeries and joint replacement and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols to ultimately increase patient safety.
