Research Award Opportunities for Black and Indigenous Undergraduate Students (Undergraduate students only)

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) are currently hosting research award opportunities for undergraduate students.

Details about each program can be found below:

NSERC is hosting a call for applications for its Black Student and Indigenous USRAs program, which provides research experience to complement the studies of undergraduate students pursuing careers in the field of natural sciences and engineering. Successful candidates will participate in a 16-week program in the summer term and will receive a research award valued at $6,000 from NSERC with a match from the University for a minimum of $1,500.

CIHR and SSHRC have each introduced their respective Black Student USRAs program. The goal is to provide research experience that complements the degree program undergraduate students are pursuing, which may lead them to consider graduate studies careers in the fields of health and life sciences (CIHR) or the social sciences and humanities (SSHRC). Successful candidates will participate in a 16-week program in the summer term and will receive a research award valued at $6,000 from the funding agency with a match from the University for a minimum of $1,500.
