Statement by EDI Director, Dr. Lisa Isaac for Latin American Heritage Month and Islamic History Month
October is both Latin American Heritage Month and Islamic History Month in Canada. It provides an opportunity to recognize the rich and diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of the Muslim and Latin Americacommunities in Canada.
By celebrating these communities, we can foster a greater sense of understanding, respect, and unity among people of different backgrounds.
Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing the stories of some of our faculty and trainees who identify as Hispanic, Latino/a/x, and Muslim. By doing this, we hope to honour the achievements and voices of both communities and create an inclusive environment that values and uplifts the experiences and perspectives of all our colleagues.
I invite you to join us in celebrating Canadian Islamic History Month, and Latin American Heritage Month.
