Dr. Vaibhav Kamble appointed as Director, Enhanced Skills Program Director, Department of Family And Community Medicine

Congratulations to Dr. Vaibhav Kamble, who has been appointed as the new Director, Enhanced Skills Program, Department of Family And Community Medicine (DFCM), effective October 1, 2023.

This is a tremendous honour for Dr. Kamble and the department!

As Director of the Enhanced Skills Program, Dr. Kamble will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, evaluation, and advancement of all aspects related to the PGY-3 Enhanced Skills Residency Program. This responsibility includes oversight of all activities related to training, including recruitment, admission, awards, curriculum design and delivery, assessment, remediation, and accreditation. The Enhanced Skills Program Director also leads and supports scholarly initiatives in education that study and promote best educational practices in postgraduate education.

Dr. Kamble has been a Staff Anesthesiologist at Michael Garron Hospital/Toronto East Health Network since 2002 and, for the last 21 years, has been committed to excellence in resident education. He currently serves as the Director of the Family Practice Anesthesia Program for Enhanced Skills and is the recipient of the Department of Family and Community Medicine Postgraduate Award in Program Leadership. Dr. Kamble will remain the Program Director for our Family Practice Anesthesia program while taking on the new leadership role as the Director of the Enhanced Skills Program.

P4: Dr. Kamble is appointed to the Departments of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine and Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and, having previously worked in rural Ontario, is a strong advocate for supporting family doctors and Family Practice Anesthetists in rural practice and how family physicians are integral to addressing the challenges facing rural and remote care services in Canada.

Dr. Kamble will succeed Dr. Giovanna Sirianni, who successfully led and managed the largest Enhanced Skills program in the country. We look forward to supporting Dr. Kamble in his new role.
