Dr. Fiona Campbell receives the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award in Science from her alma mater, McMaster University

Dr. Fiona Campbell has received the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award in Science from McMaster University. Dr. Campbell graduated from McMaster in 1980 and again in 1984.

She received the award for her tremendous work in clinical practice, research, policy, advocacy, and education innovations for health professionals, children and families.

Dr. Campbell is a professor at the University of Toronto and medical director of the Chronic Pain Program in the Department of Anesthesia & Pain Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children.

She’s also co-director of the SickKids Pain Centre, was the inaugural co-chair of the Ontario Chronic Pain Network in partnership with the Ministry of Health, is the former president of the Canadian Pain Society and was appointed by Health Canada to co-chair the Canadian Pain Task Force.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Campbell expressed her gratitude.

"Receiving this award has been a truly unexpected honor, made possible by not only the work of many collaborators, colleagues and patient partners but also the support of my mentors, family and friends. My academic career at SickKids and the UofT Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine has been a joy and critical to my academic success and this achievement. My heartfelt thanks go to so many – you know who you are!"
