Anesthesia resident Dr. Connor Brenna has been named the recipient of the 2024 Ontario's Anesthesiologists Resident Award. The award recognizes anesthesia residents in Ontario for their outstanding contributions to education, leadership, and advocacy within and beyond the field of anesthesiology.
Brenna was nominated by his colleagues, who highlighted his exemplary service and leadership as a resident, notably his involvement in Ontario’s Anesthesiologists’ Environmental Sustainability Working Group.
The award will be presented next month during the organization’s virtual Transition-to-Practice event.

Dr. Alex Bak will receive the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation Award as well as the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society Abstract Award for his research, “Risk Factors for Chronic Dysphagia after Anterior Surgical Decompression for Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy: Results of the Multicenter, Randomized, Controlled, Phase III, CSM-Protect Clinical Trial.”
