Dr Holmes attended medical school at the Australian National University. She completed her Anaesthesia training through St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne including undertaking Cardiac and complex adult anaesthesia fellowships at St Vincent’s Hospital, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Australia. She became a Specialist Anesthesiologist in 2019, obtaining her Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
She then completed a Fellowship at Royal Papworth Hospital in the United Kingdom, specialising in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care as well as Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation retrieval and care during England’s first Covid-19 wave. During this fellowship, she attained Diplomate certification with the American National Board of Echocardiography in Transesophageal Echocardiography.
