Research Synopsis

Dr. Moreno's special interest are in echocardiographic research including cardiac and thoracic anesthesia, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

He was a collaborator in 2011 of the PERISCOPE study (Prospective Evaluation of a RIsk Score for postoperative pulmonary COmPlications in Europe), based on the Predicting Postoperative Pulmonary complications in Europe, consisting in a 7-day data collection, prospective, observational study (Research protocol Version 1.1.  02 May 2011. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01346709). This project was financed by the  European Society of Anesthesiology, and his principal investigator was Jaume Canet, Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol, from Badalona, Barcelona, Spain.

He was also a collaborator on the 2008 Hypothermia after out of hospital and in hospital cardiac arrest project, financed by the Hospital Clinic, Barcelona, Spain, having as principal investigator Dr. Jaume Fontanals Dotras.

Other collaborations include the 2007 Perioperative Ischemic Evaluation Study (POISE) Trial at Hospital de la Sant Creu i Sant Pau, Barcelona, Spain. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT00182039.  This project was financed by the Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation, having as principal investigator P.J. Devereaux, MD McMaster University, Homer Yang, MD University of Ottawa.

Dr. Moreno is also a co-developer of the 2006 APAT project, to offer assistance to the traumatic elderly patient, financed by the Hospital de la Sant Creu i Sant Pau, Barcelona, Spain. Having as principal investigator Dr. María Victoria del Moral García, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain.
