Dr. Laflamme’s interests and accomplishments are related to patient safety and surgical site infection (SSI) prevention.  With the support of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) he led a multidisciplinary group in re-editing the current clinical recommendations guide in preventing SSI which was published in September 2014. He provides support for local, national and international teams in implementing SSI prevention best practices.  In addition, his current focus lies on providing cognitive aid for anesthesiologists to improve the quality of care, enhance the quality of mortality and morbidity rounds, and making available a patient safety adverse event or near miss timely reporting system.
