Critical Care Clinical Research Unit - Sunnybrook

Research Unit Description

The research unit is based in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. It is composed of a group of like-minded clinician scientists and educators who are interested in further critical care medicine through the development, conduct, completion and implementation of high quality research and education in critical care medicine.

Research Focus

The focus of the group is performing high quality clinical epidemiology in the field of critical care medicine. This includes high quality clinical trials, cohort studies, database studies and meta-analyses in critical care medicine. The group has been very successful in attracting funding and publishing papers in high quality medical journals including 380 peer-reviewed papers in the last 6 years and $30 million of grant income. Their educational aims mirror their research aims to innovate in the delivery and development of medical education for trainees in critical care medicine from all backgrounds.
