Toronto Western Hospital claims victory at the 2025 Golden Laryngoscope Games

Golden Laryngoscope Games 2025

The Toronto Anesthesia Resident Council Athletics Reps brought back the Golden Laryngoscope Games (formerly known as Sports Day) on October 18, 2025, reviving friendly competition and team spirit across hospital sites.

This year’s games featured classic and high-energy events, including tug-of-war, dodgeball, and a lighthearted tournament with egg-and-spoon, potato sack, and three-legged races. “We were able to enjoy the great weather and have some friendly competition among the sites,” said resident co-chiefs Drs. Sean Leung and Jessica Nguyen.

Amid the fun, participants also supported a meaningful cause. The sites collectively raised more than $1,300 for the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society International Education Foundation (CASIEF), which supports anesthesia care in low-resource settings around the world.

After an afternoon of fierce but friendly competition, Toronto Western Hospital came out as the winner. With more than 20 team members, they brought full force to every event, including a strong victory in the tug-of-war, to claim the coveted Golden Laryngoscope.

"The Athletics team cannot thank all attendees enough for the spirit they brought. It was an incredible day filled with fun. We are already looking forward to next year!" said Dr. Steven Alchi.

Congratulations to Toronto Western Hospital and to all participating sites for making this year’s event a success!
