In Memoriam: Beverly Santisteban Kataoka

Beverly’s rich, 48-year journey through life reached its conclusion on Saturday, October 8, 2016, in t

he arms of her beloved Markie, her mother Norma Lacson, brother Sidney Cadang and sister Pamela Fernandez. A delight and inspiration to all who met her, Beverly will be remembered as a dedicated operating room nurse whose energy and enthusiasm could make even the most intense environment a place of comfort (and fun!), a talented artist who loved to paint (never more so than when the work was to be a gift for a friend or loved one), an avid tennis player and a dedicated teacher/clinician who volunteered her skill and talent to medical efforts in the Philippines and Rwanda.

Beverly’s smile and generosity of spirit will always be a source of strength to everyone who had the opportunity to meet her; her love will bring comfort and our cherished memories of her will never fade. Please join our family in remembering Beverly and reflecting on the love and happiness that she brought into all of our lives.

Friends may visit at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd. (east gate entrance), on Thursday, October 13th and Friday, October 14th from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Basil’s Parish, 50 St. Joseph St. on Saturday, October 15th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation directed to Lung Cancer Research at Princess Margaret Hospital would be appreciated by the family and by Beverly, who had wanted to hold an exhibition of her paintings to raise both funds and awareness of lung cancer in nonsmokers - but did not have the opportunity to do so this year.
