St. Michael's Hospital (SMH)

St. Michael's Hospital is a tertiary care cardiac centre with a caseload of 1200 cardiopulmonary bypass surgeries per year, including valve and aortic surgery. We have a particular focus on a strong training experience in transesophageal echocardiography as well as TAVRs, with a goal of ~150/year. The fellowship is a one-year program and is structured into four blocks consisting of three months each of:

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
  • Cardiac Anesthesia
  • Echocardiography training
  • General anesthesia

Didactic programs are organized as weekly echo lectures. Research or other educational opportunities can be developed to meet individual objectives.
